Hey guys,
recently I bought the abit kt7 raid mobo, and I am very pleased with it, except for 1 thing.
My soundcard will not install, when drivers are being installed.....BAMM...BSOD.
Another soundcard....same problem.
Both cards work fine on my other motherboard which is running as we speak.
Could this be an irq problem?? If so, how can I change it???
Thanks for any help, cause games are just not the same without sound. LOL
Pim
is your sound isa or pci. I had a problem installing a pci sound card and had to change setting in cmos.

What did ya have to change in the bios???
The irq settings???
Please help me on this one, cause I'm going nuts.

First, download and install the latest "leaked" VIA chipset driver:
http://viahardware.com/download/4in1425a.zip
Then I would recommend installing the latest Aureal reference drivers. They can be obtained from:
http://www.vortexofsound.com
The above site also features a ton of tech support, hardware information, and about any other topic related to Vortex-based sound cards.
Good Luck,

Yet another Vortex 1 KT133 prob?
I know my prob was with the ASUS A7V but maybe these threads will just show what I went through :-

Well,
I tried that, and it didn't work.
My guess is that it uses an irq that is already too busy with other stuff.
What irq does a SB pro emulation normally use?? 11 is taken by 3 devices and more irq's are shared like that, so....

Hi Ultima do you have the onboard raid enabled and how many add on cards are you using(which ones shared on what IRQ?)? Did you try the soundcard in another slot? If you don't play DOS games you could delete that emulation driver it'll just take up another IRQ. Just my .02

Hey Canit,
I was already planning on disabling the emulation, as I had to on my previous mobo also.
But that doesn't work.
I put the card in the slot, and when I install the drivers, it gives a bsod as soon as I install the emulator.
But, if I hit cancel when it is gonna install that one, it still gives a bsod, so I'm starting to get worried here.
Well, I'll let ya know which devices use which irqs, and yes, the raid is installed and enabled in bios.
Thanks for the help.
Pim
BTW, I tried getting the old stuff out of windows, but when I remove the seperate things of the card, it says with the pci audio platform that it is part of a multifunction parent and I have to remove that one.
Well, I tried that, but when I click on it, there is no remove button highlighted.

I had the exact same problem. I have the MX300 also running on a KT7-RAID motherboard. I used to get lockups all the time. After I did this though I had no lockups: http://www.vortexofsound.com/techhelp/th-v2a29.htm
Do the option for disabling before installation of the drivers. It worked for me. I also have the card in the 3rd PCI slot if that makes a difference.

Just connect to the internet and select Battlenet rather than single player. It will ask you some questions and you have to set up an account on Blizzards servers. They keep all your player information. That way it is on their server and players can't cheat. Pretty cool!
I've found it more fun than single player.

Great!! That problem was dogging me for a while too!! It's good to know that I knew what I was talking about http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Back to gaming!! Do you play any games online? I've been playing Homeworld and Diablo II online. I've got a lot of others, but these have been taking up my time recently.
