Back in the day you had the higher-end 486DX, with a built-in math-cpu, and the lower-end 486SX, w/o math-cpu. You could add a math-cpu to boost speed if neccesary. I think Evergreen used to sell Pentium 133 upgrade chips for the 486s. However, seeing as just today I saw a 486 w/motherboard for $0.25 on eBay, I don't think it's worth it. sno13 11-12-2000, 01:29 AM I have an old Gateway 2000 with another place to put a cpu into. IS this normal? Will putting in another cpu make it multitasking. Right now it has a 486 sx. Is it even worth renting space in my head? bdunn 11-13-2000, 09:26 AM Most of those were standard baby AT boards. You can probalby replace the whole baord with a super-7 board and CPU rather inexpensively. SysOpt.com
