Could you please help me out. my friend recently bought an ergonomic keyboard for her computer which has a EFA Viking 1 p5v580-at-c motherboard w/ a pentium mmx chip. we used an adapter to plug it into the keyboard slot. now the computer will not boot and makes a steady beeping when its turned on. we turned it off and tried the old keyboard that came with the system and the same problem occured. now the computer will not boot no matter which keyboard we plug into it. any suggestions?

Seems you toasted the keyboard fuse there, or if the engineers had been going cheap while designing the mainboard, zapped a power trace on it.

Inspect closely if there are components labelled <Fxxx> near the keyboard connector. These are fuses. Replace if they're broken.
