Hi folks!
My battle to get BellSouth's external USB ADSL modem to work on my AMD K6-2 450mhz, FIC 503A machine is getting to be a real pain. Their software uninstaller package crashed Windows 98SE to the point where I've decided to upgrade to 2000 Pro.
A month ago I ran MS's upgrade report software. The report states that 2000 Pro doesn't support my on board audio chip. They don't have a driver for the VIA PCI Audio Controller (WDM). Has anyone out there been down this road??? Does VIA or FIC have a 2000 Pro compatible driver available for download yet?? (This was the reason I had held off on upgrading.)
I can always just disable the audio in my BIOS (which I've done for now) and install a PCI or ISA sound card. I'd just like to know if there is a reasonable way to get this onboard audio chip to function under 2000 Pro? I've already had to flash my BIOS to eliminate an nagging Check Sum error. (This only happens because I'm using an AT box)
TIA
Charlie
