I'm gonna get a Socket Athlon and need to know which motherboard it the best. I want temperature devices, X4 AGP, good overclocking ability, for CPU up to about 1.5g and pleanty of dimms, pci, no ISA.
Any ideas, think i'll get the 800 Athlon.

Thanx - Rob

This is just my opion if it were me building it I would go with the Asus A7V

I run 7 sys and I got Asus mobo's in all of them and have never had any problem at all with any of them

As for overclocking it is one of the best made to date it will do multiplier as well as FSB and voltage

Hope this will help you out the only thing is it is a little pricey but that is what you get for buying quality parts

The Abit KT7-RAID would be another good choice,6 PCI and of course RAID. You can change the multiplier in the bios. I don't think the Asus with on board sound has the multiplier. The new MSI and Epox boards now have multiplier adjustment.

Yes, the Asus A7V with onboard sound doesn't have multiplier settings, so no OCing. I have an A7V with out onboard sound and it's a stellar mobo, the best, I think. If you do get this mobo, just make sure it doesn't have onboard sound, if you want to overclock. As for the Abit KT7-RAID, I don't know much about it other than the fact that a few people have had problems with it, like not getting it to boot. This could just be a fluke, a defective or damaged one. The good thing about the Abit is that it has RAID (on the RAID model), but you can have up to 8 IDE devices on the A7V anyway, and I don't see myself having 8 HDD's/CDROM's. Either way, if you want to be on the cutting edge and not lagging behind everyone else, go with one of these two.

BTW, I should have read your thread better: The A7V has up to 1.5GB RAM (3 DIMM slots), no isa, 4X AGP PRO, either temp monitors built into the mobo, or hardware comes with it to attach a thermometer to the CPU.

Oh yeah, it has only 5 PCI slots.

SysOpt has good articles on the Asus A7V and Abit KT7 that might help make your decision easier.
