What is the difference, if any, between AT and ATX. Also what options of MOBO would you have with an AT?
Thanks in advance for any responses .

The AT is essentially an obsolete form factor. i think the market is very limited in system bus speeds (100 MHz) and cpus (233 MHZ) for this style (mainly Socket 7 processors). Which is too bad because i ordered a beautiful case a while back which was supposed to be ATX but it came with an AT power supply.

Thanks for the reply and links SoDead.
Actually I think it's a baby AT but really makes no difference. I have an old Intel Pentium MMX 233mhz, 66mhz fsb, I430TX PCI chipset, FIC MOBO(terrible). As I'm finding out upgrading anything on this clunker is next to impossible. It actually was a very good platform when i got it but It does'nt serve my needs anymore. guess I have to start from scratch.
I would actually like to go to a AMD DURON around maybe 550 mhz fsb 100mhz, 1 agp , 4 or 5 PCI and no ISA. Any suggections on a realitvely cheap an stable MOBO and ATX case that fits that description.
Thanks for the response and opinions.

Skimping on a mobo is not a good idea. Save up a little more money and get either an Abit or Asus and you will be much happier.

I have the FIC VA503+ and have an AT power supply connected.

That wouldn't have anything to do with why I can't get the thing to work right, would it?

I am trying to install an AMD K6-2/550.

I have tried everything else along with the latest bios, different memory, checking the jumpers a hundred times, etc.......
