Just wondering if anyone has input on a Slot 1 CPU vs Flip Chip CPU? I am planning on building another computer, and would like to know which is better for gaming, as well as overall performance!

Target 10-06-2000, 06:23 PM For the most part, they're basically the same now. As long as you use a quality Slot1 adapter on the Flip-Chip CPU's, the performance of the two should be pretty equal. RobRich 10-06-2000, 07:33 PM Performance should not vary at all. I would personally recommend Socket370 flip-chip, as I believe it is easier to cool this configuration. The socket format makes it easier to modify the CPU cooling, as you can just simply attach an aftermarket socket cooler without any modifications. Just make sure the cooler has the small flipchip compatible "feet". These keep the heatsink flush with the small core of the P3 Coppermine. Iwill makes good slockets. vass0922 10-09-2000, 07:53 AM Not to mention from what I heard Intel is moving away from Slot 1 anyways...sucks for me but my mobo goes up to 1.0 Ghz anyways so I won't need to upgrade any time soon http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif SysOpt.com
