I was going through some of the files on my hard drive the other night, and one of them contained this line: "Show me the money! Show me the money! I want to be Mike. I want to be Mike."

Any guesses as to which file this is from? I'll give hints if needed.

Pop quiz?
Answer: Aureate, or more specifically, part of the advert.dll spyware.

LOL this is an interesting twist on the "what's this lyric from?" threads http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

First one to post "what .dll is this hex from" wins a pair of nerd glasses and some acne http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

You've got it Dave_H! I found that file on my system, and figured I'd open it up in Notepad. I came across that line, and was thinking to myself, WTF? I haven't been following Aureate too much, but may I assume it's safe to delete advert.dll?

Thanks!

Don't just delete it goet optout and make sure there's no other spyware on you drives.
They also put stuff in your registry and optout will sort that while its there.Optout (http://grc.com/optout.htm)

btw - my record for spyware is 87 files in 1 day on the net.

the downside is that by removing the nasty Aureate stuff, you (in most cases) cripple the app that it used to piggyback onto your harddrive.

If anyone knows what stuff runs okay without it, or alternatives to "infected" apps maybe they'd be kind enough to post back...

I kind of like Go!Zilla and I don't particularly want to pay for Getright (the unlicenced version is Aureated too http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif )...

Hi there,

I use Download Accelerator, and I also noticed it didn't contain Aureate/Radiate.

DA is a pretty good program also!

Can someont tell me how I can get some "Aureate" spyware **** on my computer http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
