Great board, pretty sought after for OCing sockets A's, and if you dont need the raid feature, you can forego that and get it for 20-30$ less...

ya i thought the raid was overkill after you get the at 100 drive but it was the same price at motherboard.com without the raid. so i figure it wouldnt hurt to have it. now i have to see if they actually stock the thing. thanks for the reply

I got the KT7 RAID..Got the RAID part of it for ATA-100 and to have everything on its own channel, not for RAID.
GREAT board once you get it up and running
If you booting drive is moved over to a ATA-100 channel, you may experience some initial booting problems, which when you work out, wont be an issue anymore.
If you plan to connect your booting drive on one of the ATA-66 channels, you shouldnt have any problems at all.
It clocks VERY well, has every FSB thats feasable with an athlon/duron (1Mhz steps..tops out really high, but with a socket A, more than 120FSB is usuallly impossible.
Completely jumperless...even got that ISA slot if you need it.

it was $175 at motherboard.com for either one. ive always liked abit and the jumperless boards. ive been waiting for one with ddr support and the at 100 is a plus. thanks for the info on the board.

I hear all this stuff about ATA-100. You guys should know better!

There isn't an IDE drive out there that can transfer data at even close too 100 MB/s, and there won't be one for YEARS (which is about 4 motherboard upgrades away).

So if you want RAID, fine. But if you're just getting this board for the ATA-100, get the KT7 and with the extra $30, put twenty in your pocket and send ten bucks to me!! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

its not for the at 100 thats just candy. its a total upgrade and i needed a good motherboard and the kt7 raid costs only a coulpe of bucks more than the kt7. so why not

Im out IDE expansions if I bought the KT7 (2HDD's, 1 CD-r and 1 DVD-rom)
And even tho it doesnt touch ATA-100 theoretical speed, its still faster than ATA-33 and ATA-66.
It was 15 extra for me, cheaper than any I/O card.

I've got the KT7-RAID. Great board.

It is true that it can't transfer data at even close too 100 MB/s but it is an upgrade so why not get the latest available? That way you aren't far behind in the technology when the theory becomes reality. The best part about having the RAID version is that you have 4 more devices that can be connected. You can have up to 8 devices! 4 ATA66 and 4 ATA100.

Check out this site. It helped me troubleshoot my bootup problems. What could have taken me hours took minutes because I had this FAQ.
