OK, sorry if this answer's a bit sketchy - I'm no expert in excel, but have had a similar problem myself. Firstly, you could try playing around with the import format - something to do with column delimited and space delimited.

Mmmmmm....

The data I had to import was all in one row and separated by a double-space. I wanted it in one column, so I used a Hex editing program (hexworks) available here
http://www.bpsoft.com/

This allowed me to edit the file and globally replace all the double-spaces with carriage-return, line feed. With this substitution, excel was able to import the data as I wanted.

Hope this is of some help!!

Krusty.

PS, if you use this, or a similar program, you will need to find a hex code table to tell you what the line-feed, etc. hex code is.

Please try out the following method to find a solution for your problem of importing Text files to MS-Excel:

Open MS-Excel.
1. Goto File->Open.
2. Select a "Text" file."Text Import Wizard"
will be opened.
3. In step 1 of 3, under "Original Data
Type" choose the file type as
"Delimiter". Click "Next".
4. In step 2 of 3, Uncheck the option "Tab",
if it is checked, and select the option
"Space". Click "Next".
5. Now, In step 3, choose the option
"General" under "Column Data Format".
6. Click "Finish".

By doing this, the Text file will be imported in MS-Excel. Also, you can perform calcutaions using the imported file.

Hope this works. :-)

Sherlock.
