I have the rev 1.0 board with a bios date of 10-98. The Promise card posts up with the drive listed, but I can't get the hard drive detect to see the drive for configing so it won't boot the OS. If I put the drive back on the IDE controller it boots up and lists the ATA66 card in Win98 device manager with a conflict. I suspect I need a new board or can a bios flashing solve this problem? Thanks

try this :
remove hard disk controllers in windows device manager and shut down. connect your cd rom(s) to the Primary motherboard ide and disable the secondary ide channel in bios. put the hard drive on the primary Promise controller. in standard cmos settings - all drives should be set to None (unless you have a second hard drive). sounds like you just haven't provided resources (irq) for the controller to operate. a little late in my reply, i assume you have it fixed by now
