Can anyone explain in laymans terms exactly what the "AGP Aperture Setting " in the BIOS is ?? Is this related in any way to the on board memory of the AGP card or not ?? My card has 4 Megs but the AGP aperture is set to the default of 64M.
all I does is use that mem to create the graphics it should be set to half the amount of mem you have

The AGP Aperture setting tells the system/video card how much system ram to use for AGP texturing. 1/2 the available system ram is a good setting, but not many games/ video cards really take advantage of AGP texturing because it is much slower than using the system memory on the card. Also, you really have to be running high resolutions with 32bit 3D textures to fill most 32MB video cards. The Voodoo cards don't use AGP texturing at all(thier not built to) so the AGP aperture setting is pointless in that case. That's why they can't do 32bit textures(the Voodoo3's).

That is true about having the apperature size set at half your system memory but, some graphics cards (like my V3 3000) should use an apperature size of 256 to optimize the card. I contacted 3DFX for this info, try contacting you video card manufaturer.
