Hi guys!
Just got hold of an old game (nostalgic me) and it just wont run (hangs) at my K6-2 400. Just wondering what this might be due to? Is it AMD or is it the high speed? Is there any utilities to emulate Intel or a lower clock speed? The game was written for i386.

Whats the old game? I have had similar problems with old dos games with win 98. when I upgraded to SE, the problem went away. (sidenote, now that I have a sblive, I can't get the soundcard to work except for midi in any dos game... even with the proper settings set so they match what the sb16 emulator settings are)

Are you running it in a dos window? Have youtried making a boot disk and running in dos? Sometimes that helps. I don't know what files to put on the boot disk, but you should have that info in a readme for the game probably.

Underclock. Or you could use something called Game Wizard that I used to use several years ago.

Martiniman, try this utility (http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/) and see if it helps. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I've got a small program called Turbo that slows your CPU down to whatever you want. I don't remember where I downloaded it. If you want it let me know and I can e-mail it to you, it's only about 50K zipped.

Its the oldie Conflict Middle East we are talking about. I know im boring = )
I have tried it both in DOS with no drivers loaded (booted safe dos) and win98 but nothing works. Going to try the suggested Mo'slo now, and i'll get back to you if it doesnt work. Thanks!

Also, there's a note saying

"System cache MUST be turned off".

I have booted the computer to safe dos box so there is no smartdrive or anything loaded. anything else i need to change?
