My motherboard manual only has the jumper settings for as high as a 400 mhz. Is that as high as I can go? I installed the amd 500 and put the jumper on 400 and it works, I also have the bus at 100. Any info on how to get it up to the 500mhz?

Well, if ya set the multiplier to 2x, it'll re root to 6x.
So if ya set your busspeed a little lower and the multiplier to 6x it should work.
Wait a minute, you do have a 5x multiplier.
here is a link to the newest manual for the p5a:

Thanks for the link....just grabed the manuel looks like on there it only has jumper settings for a K62-475. Not sure the answer to your other question though. :/
It can certainly be done, for I have a K6-2 550 on that board at 5.5 x 100.
Look on page 16 of the manual. You have a type A CPU.
