Any recommendations for the best Celeron 400 socket 370 board appreciated. Willing to spend more $ for upgrade potential as I will probably be using a slot 1 processor in future. Have heard of risers for socket 370 use in slot 1 but know nothing about who makes them or availability (fsb limits do concern me also)... any help here? Also am aware of Abit BP6 dual socket 370 but am using Win98 (doesn't support dual processors - I believe)and not using software that would need dual processing - I think (standard apps/ ie5, msoffice2k, games). Anyway, should you know of a good mboard solution... would really appreciate it. Thanks for the help... first post http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

slot 1 is going to get phased out, so dont think of that as an upgrade path.
make sure the mother b' is ppga and fc-pga compatible in not just bios, but hardware as well.

the soyo 7vca is a good board, at a decent price offering support for celeron fcpga ppga and pentium fcpga chips. the reviews i have seen are qutie good as well. a friend bought one and has enjoyed it...i wanted one but could not wait for shipping and could not find it locally for less than $130
i ended up using an abit bf6 (slot 1) and getting a slot to socket converter..

I just finish building my comp with the new FIC FB11, it's really stable and easy to set up unlike other fic products like the 503+

So, is this the best we get as far as recommendations go? The Slot1 Architecture is supposedly being phased out in favor of the S370(for now, anyway) and all we get is two or three replies and recommendations? I've read the reviews but I need to hear from the "front lines". Surely you guys can do better than this!

Try out the ASUS CUBX motherboard, its based on the good old 440BX chipset, its a socket 370 fc-ppga, and supports all current chips that fit in the aforementioned socket..
1agp/6pci/1isa, 2 ata-33 ports, onboard ata-66 controller for a total of 4 ide connectors, 3 dimms for 768mb max, and all other features supported by the latest revision of the 440bx chipset.
