Hi! I need motherboard (mobo? mom-bo sounds much cuter) recommendations. What the motherboards should support:
*Intel Pentium III processor, Slot 1, between 600 and 733 MHz, to be upgraded or overclocked to 800 MHz or beyond at a later time.
*133-MHz bus speed and beyond.
*128-MB of PC133 SDRAM Memory; to be upgraded to 256 MB in a couple of months. The most memory I will ever need in the forseeable future is 512 MB, and it is unlikely that I will ever buy that much memory.
*AGP 4X (or higher) for 32 or 64 meg RAM video/graphic. I will most likely get a 64 meg ATI Rage MAXX.
*At least 5 PCI slots.
*ISA slot is unneccessary.
*UDMA 66, preferably 100.
*STABILITY and EASY TO UPGRADE and PLUG IN NEW STUFF (memory modules, etc.)
I am building a computer for mainly home computing, surfing, and gaming.
*I use home software productivity software to keep track of my life events and finances (i.e. My Life, Microsoft Money Deluxe). I also use multimedia for language and educational software.
*My main online activity is surfing, chatting, and online messenging (e.g., Yahoo messenger, AIM.)
*The games I play are mostly roleplaying, real-time strategy, and adventures. i.e. Ultima: Ascenscion, AD&D, Warcraft III. Don't like first-person shooters and hate online pesistent worlds (i.e., Ultima Online.)
*I also use my home computer to practice programming like C++ and Delphi. But I try not to do too much of that when I am supposed to be resting at home.
My budget is $160 (list price).
Thanks for reading!
