SDRAM Bank InterLeave setting?

Got a Epox MVP3G, which seems to work just fine. Only problem so far is I can't boot with "4-bank" setting under Chipet Features Setup in CMOS. I know this is the correct setting for my 128mb SamsungPC100/GH/Cas2...

The times I have booted with 4-bank setting, my memory has benchmarked ~5.5% better. If I disable DRAM Page-Mode, then 4-bank will work all the time, tho this causes *major* hit to memory benchmarks. Anyone think maybe this could be a "timing problem" with mainboard I

i will reply to this because i to am curios about this setting i have epox em k62@400 and 2 sticks 64meg. 2 bank seems to be the highest performer but it is real close so it is hard to tell.

The interleave of SDRAM is on the chips themselves - 16Mbit chips have 2 banks, 64Mbit chips usually have 4-banks. Although 64Mbit
chips are made which have only 2 banks I don't think they're used much in PC100's...Your 64mb sticks most likely are 4-bank, check specs. Also BH6 manual has good info on this at page 2-21.

This is something I have wanted to know for a long long time!! I have the Epox MVP3C and run a AMD K6-2 500 at a very good performing 504mhz,,I get this with 4.5 x 112mhz and the standard voltage of 2.2. I am using a one 128mb DIMM of SDRAM and two 32mb DIMMS of SDRAM for a total of 192mb that is running at the FSB speed of 112mhz, they seem to really like this speed, I have not yet seen any problems with this config and the comp has been running flawless for four months now! But I have always wondered what the "SDRAM Bank Interleave" and "SDRAM Spread Spectrum" settings do. I have never seen these settings on any other mainboard before so I have no Idea what they do and would really like to know!!!

Please respond to this if you know what these settings do!!

Spread Spectrum setting usually minimizes the
EMS frequency range for testing purposes, for
normal use leave disabled...

Bank Interleave setting has to do with the actual RAM chip properties, most good quality RAM chips have "4-bank interleaving"
& work best at this setting. Interleaving controls how actual hits to memory takes place. This setting has nothing to do with how many DIMM slots you fill...

2 bank interleave was stable on my mvp3g2, 4 bank was ahigher benchmarker, but it froze frequently
buy new ram or set to 2 bank is all i can sya...

Found out all Epox MVP3 MBs have this problem
with Samsung memory, no big deal. I'm using a
7KXA now anyway, which works fine at 4-bank setting...
