Anyone know why episode 1 isnt out on dvd? you would think this is just the format He (lucas) would want it released on, not vhs. I heard they may not be until all 6 are done. any ideas?

and another question reguarding episode one
didnt lucas state that he wouldnt release episode one untill the other 2 prequels had been released,
was this just a ploy to get us all into the seats or what?

From what I understand, Lucas wants to supervise the transfer of the movies to DVD himself, which means he's going to wait until the other 2 prequels are finished to start that. I also believe that when the DVDs are released, they're going to be offered as a 6-DVD set.... but they are probably going to release individual ones as well (at least I hope they do).

I was hearing that the DVD was going to be released a few months after the VHS. That way the Hype of owning it will be over and DVD Ripping "may" not be as big of a problem.. although its going to happen anyway.

Thing is... that logic never made sense to me. There have been at least 2 different versions (probably several more) of Episode 1 in MPEG-1 format flying around on the net. So it's already being pirated - why not put it out on DVD as well? I'll never buy the VHS, but I would buy the DVD. It's their loss.

I don't know if this is another one of those rumors also but I think what JW310 said was right. I heard that Lucas wants to oversee making the DVD because he would like to add extras such as "how to anaylize movies" and background information.

He's just trying to make the most money he can. If he releases the DVD version of Episode 1 in say, a year or 2 from now, it will seem like a big new release. As compared to releasing the VHS and DVD versions at the same time.

Since it will be considered another release, i'm sure he will make it worth our while by including more on it (like stated in the above comments). This does make good business sense. But still, I'd love to have a copy on DVD http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Bah he's trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Should have spent more time writing a script instead of playing with new toys. C-

POP QUIZ.
You go back in time. You find yourself holding a gun with only one bullet in. Before you stand <insert despotic mass murderer here> and the creator of Jar Jar Binks. Who do you cap?

lol

You cap the murderer...then you get medieval on the other. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

You can do a lot of cool things with dvd that you can't with vhs...I'm sure Lucas is taking the time to cram every unnecessary little technological gimmick there is in there before releasing...kinda like the movie.

It still doesn't make up for the fact the the movie was a load of Sh#t does it. Or have a just started something i don't really want to get in to?????
I think it is and was all a bit over hyped and could never really get into all the adoration of an under par kids film!!!
