Hello,

My family get upset because there can reach me on the phone while I am on-line. Is there a way (software/hardware) to monitor an incoming call and the source of who's calling (some sort of caller id) while on-line? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Basically Pagoo is used with call forwarding and an internet phone setup, meaning that you pay for call forwarding to a dial-pad-like center that lets you talk over the web. Otherwise, you can set up call forwarding to a different line or get a modem that is call-waiting ready.

I saw a deal on ZDTV I think it was about some program that intercepts your calls after so many rings, then puts them on hold while it sends you an IM type message over the net, and then you can disconnect, pick up the phone, and talk to them . It was really cheap too, like 5 bucks a month or something. I will try to see if they have something on their webpage about it..

Hello,

We were a part of 3 months trial of a Internet call waiting system (Telstra -The biggest Australian telephone company) and we were more that happy while it lasted. We could receive calls (trough Netmeeting) and search the Internet without interruptions and without time limits. This service will be introduced in Australia officially from June this year and it will cost $3-5 AUS.
I'm surprised that a service like this is not introduced in the USA.

Medo you did not say whether money hungry Testra are charging that monthly or per call http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
They may be the biggest in Oz but don't they still charge you a local connect fee per call and then so much per minute.?

Hello,

WW - not any more. I was here only a couple of months and the price slashed from $0.25 to 0.22 to 0.18 (time unlimited if your three months bill is more than $25) and now only 0.15 if you are on same exchage.
WW - monthly

regarding pagoo:

i had it, but recently just switched over to something called CallWave (http://www.callwave.com/). it is basically the same thing, but totally free. it is much more limited than pagoo, "but hey it is free," as my dad has said.

it seems to be OK, except that you can't minimize it, but whatever...

Check out the Internet answering machine, Callwave. We use it in our house and it works great. The software is free and you set it up with the phone company as a call forwarding thing that only costs us $1.30 per month http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif When you are online it alerts you to incoming calls and the message is played right on your computer through your speakers. http://www.callwave.com/

Thank you everyone for your time and help. I really appreciate all your suggestion and feedback. I wish one day that I can return the same service to all of you.

I used Pagoo for 6 months and it worked quite well. I'd probably still be using it today but I have a DSL line now (and never miss any calls http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif )
