I'm strongly considering this board as a replacement for my Soyo BX mainboard. Are there any problems or issues that I need to be aware of? Any tips on the setup And installation of the board? How does it compare with Abit's version of the board(SE6). Items to be placed on board as follows:
-256 of RAM(PC133)
-Linksys NIC
-Adaptec 2930CU SCSI card
-Creative SB Live Value card
-CL GeForce DDR card
-P3 800 133mhz FCPGA
-Win 98 FE
Thank you for your thoughts & kind attention.

I just installed one as a replacement to my Soyo 6BA+IV. It performs well as the Soyo. Better in graphics. I don't know how it compares to Abit... had the BX6-2…. It just sits on a shelf collecting dust ever since replacing it with the 6BA+IV. I was satisfied enough with the Soyo to have bought a second one. Now, the CUSL2 has replaced one of them and I am very pleased so far.
There isn't much to consider here.. Umm... It does come with five (with the option for two more) USB ports. -one being a sharing port. There are the typical two connections on the motherboard and Asus supplies the extra on a slot bracket if you want to use them, you’ll need a unused slot. The one of the serial ports (com2) is also on a bracket. The onboard VGA connector is placed where Com2 would normally be found. So the same thing goes for this too.
I haven't had much time to spend with it ...but upgrading was very uneventful. It temporarily had some problems detecting duplicate keyboard and some other components; the AGP controller not staying selected. This can't be help because of the use of the new chipset and the way it functions. Installing the 815 drivers off the supplied CD will set things proper right away. You may need to remove duplicate components and let the OS find them anew on reboot. This one restart fixes it all.
Other then that... nothing really.
-Basically, I have the same components. The SBLive, a DDR, Adaptec SCSI, etc.-
Performance is good, if not great. It definitely is the next BX chipset. I imagine the motherboard manufactures will be changing to the 815e in volume, in the recent future ~edit~ (ß hmm, odd “the recent future”) and preference it over Via's chipset.
