I just got a dremel and all I can say is that they kick some major ***!!!!!
I bought it to make some case mods.....and I ended up buying the top of the line dremel they had...............they are the bomb, and you can do so much with them.....I have used them a couple of times before, but never owned one till now.................yeehawww!!!
No good geek should be without one.

I agree with that, but mine is a middle of the road price range and I've lost most of the bits - I think I'm ready for another...
Still haven't mastered the art of doing my own teeth yet though.

hehe, I've played with a Dremel tool or 2 at various friends houses. All I can say is, if you've got a "tweeker" personality (prone to getting totally obsessed with various little projects, like me) then you'd do good to stay far away from the dreaded dremel tool. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif If I bought myself one, I'd be busy for the next few months.........years......?????

Oblivion, when you start feelin' the need to upgrade the Dremel (and I know you will) go get the Flex attachment for it. Makes a great toy even better.

oblivion, WARNING from the old Corvette Doctor. These things are a small bomb in your hands. The bit can "walk" around the hole and break bit flinging it at about 200mph. If you use a "burring tool"/ "rotary file" another danger is long shards of metal everywhere, small as a hair. These are nearly impossible to see and seem to appear at the wrong times too. Lastly, I'm sure every one here knows to use eye protection and ear protection too. This is all old news to a bunch of us I'm sure,, but it doesn't take even a nanosecond for you to lose an eye. Yep...Dremels are cool!
Ultimate members are cool!
I have had dremel tools since '78. I use them for almost everything you can imagine, from model airplanes to BP6 motherboard mod's ( and working on carb's for cars! )

Richard is right, these things can be dangerous,if not used safely.Dremels are great tools, they look like they are easy to handle (have never used one myself).
OuTpaTienT,congrats with your Ultimate status
One other thing,I have finally ICQ,so if anyone wants to chat with me (nobody wants to,I guess) or ofcourse ask me something, check my profile for my number.

Another thought, due to the tiny particles, NEVER use your drememl on your case, with the MOBO installed or anything else! take it all out. 1 tiny piece of metal dust can fry your whole system.
I love my dremel. Use it for all the little jobs you need it for. One of the most usefull little tools...
Congrats on ULTIMATE MEMBER Outpatient!
