www.go2net.com (http://www.go2net.com)

-Finds what you want from multiple engines.

www.google.com (http://www.google.com)

-Great engine, and NO COMMERCIALISM.

Metacrawler (http://www.metacrawler.com/)

go2net except just the search engine.

Web Ferret (http://www.ferretsoft.com)

Great for small specific searches. Though you'll want to pick up OptOut to get rid of the "spywear".

If centrapoint isn't a Yahoo! clone, I don't know what is. Amazing resemblance.

www.northernlight.com (http://www.northernlight.com)

absolutely THE best if you have to do research. That's how I found sysopt.com soooo long ago. Organizes your results into folders making it easier to get specific results from a broad search

What? no one uses AJ (http://www.aj.com)?? I know it's kind of "novice-ish" but it does a quick search on broad topics.

For stuff where I know specifically what to ask for: Altavista (http://www.altavista.com).

For uhm non-standard searches I use astalavista. Sorry, no link; I don't know if I could get away with it.

I've tried a few including www.google.com (http://www.google.com) , which is fair but www.hotbot.com (http://www.hotbot.com) is the only one that gives me the exact results that I want.

I've tried a bunch, including Hotbot, Jeeves, Goto, but when I want to find something I go to Google. And 9 times out of 10 I find exactly what I want.

I like Hotbot.com because of its flexibility on search options and boolean capability.

For a completely different way to find stuff on the Web, check out Simpli.com (http://www.simpli.com).

I'd tell you how much better a search engine it is, but as I work there, that might be construed as a conflict of interest :-}.

Improves search by figuring out what it is you are looking for and building an expanded advanced query to multiple engines.

If nothing else, it's fun to play with the intentions it comes up with for various terms!

If I don't find what I'm looking for at www.infind.com (http://www.infind.com) , I go to www.infoseek.com (http://www.infoseek.com) .
I'm going to check out some of the others listed in these replies.

Well, I hate to say this, but I'm a google kinda guy. I've seen some good things written above about hotbot, may try that soon, but I have www.google.com (http://www.google.com) as my start page when I load IE.

Have fun guys

Seeing the suggestions here I tried Google - not impressed - and Hotbot - not too bad. Already tried most of the rest.

None match Copernic.
