One of the first things I do when I get a new motherboard is the bios adjustments, one of those adjustments is "no errors".

For some reason I put "all errors" a few minutes ago and when I tried to boot it said "checksum errors load defaults".

I have bp6 with a 192 megs of ram and a pair of 366's running at 550.

I have heard checksum errors deal with ram, so what I am wondering is if anyone knows of any good utilities to diagnose ram.

This may be a silly question, but would it have to do with my cmos battery going dead?

Any help would a appreciated.

Might be the battery. I've heard of that causing checksum errors. I fixed a checksum error in the past by flashing the BIOS, but that one was slightly damaged by a power surge.

Try this utility ( www.simmtester.com (http://www.simmtester.com) ) to check the memory. It is a memory stress tester that works rather nicely.

uhm.. it's either your battery is low, or you have just taken power from your mobo. This happened to me because the CMOS lost it's memory. Happened after i unplugged the mobo for a quite long time. Uhm... i think it's the battery. Or make sure you have your jumper shorted on NORMAL than CLEAR.

Thanks guys you've been very helpful. Very useful utility I checked my ram and it passed all of the tests.

Yeah I had my board out of the case for a couple hours and the battery being weak was the problem.

I replaced a cap and now she runs great in win2k (smp), very stable, love it!!!

Now I just got to wait for the liveware update for my live value.
