Someone, please help,

I've just put together my first computer. I installed all the components but my system will not post. The only thing is a flashing message that says "check video connection or PC".

I've tried uninstalling all my components expect for my video card, cpu, memory, and cooling fan, but it's still not posting. So I don't think it's my components. I'm afraid its my CPU or motherboard, but how do I actually know. I hate to mail back my parts because of the hassle and time wasted. Please Help!!

Configuration:
- Abit KA7 Motherboard
- 650 AMD CPU
- 128 Kingston PC100 Sdram
- ATI Rage Fury video card
- 30GB Maxtor Hard Drive

Thanks for replying,

I've already tried taking my video card out and putting it back in but it didn't seem to work. My power supply is 250 Watts. and sound card is SB Live.

Any other suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks!

I too have that m/b and didn't have any major problems with it. I also have a 300w ps.

I'd suggest trying to get it to boot with ONLY the video card. Remove the sound card, modem, nic, any other card in there. Also, if you have more than one RAM bank used then remove all but one stick of RAM. If it is a power problem, that should bring the used voltage down low enough to get by.

Q: Can you get to the bios setup?

i dont have a ka7 mobo but i had this problem and it was a dumb thing that was causing it. the sleep button on the keyboard had been pushed so it was stuck in sleep mode upon boot and would not POST. perhaps this helps. perhaps not
good luck anyways!

Just got an ABIT KA7 with an Athlon 750MHz...

Updated to latest bios and works great.

Got two different 64mb PC100 sticks and no problems yet.

I must be in luck or something, I heard a lot of problems with ram sticks on this board...

Sorry I can't help... just make sure you updated your bios, they say something about improvind sdram compatibility...

Got the same board with Amd 600mghtz CPU. Loaded the operating system with a vga video card in the isa slot and installed the cards one by one. System boots without a prob. What OS are you using? The drivers for the board are only on win 98se. If you are not using that you would have to use the drivers on the disc. Which the VIA chipset drivers have been upgraded just got them today. Anybody know a good vortex sound card site my game port doesn't seem to be working and the Vortex player doesn't work right neither does winamp.

Hello there, kinda new here but I can give my $.02 cents worth. Alot of times a no post can also be a processor not being seated all the way or the video card not seated. Check and re-check your plugs for your reset switch and all , make sure your motherboard is not grounded also.

What boot disk are you using? Have you already done fdisk and format?
I used ultimate boot disk 98 v3.5..Same rig..Worked straight thru..
