So have I heard correct in that the Duron will need a motherboard that has support for Socket A rather than its Athlon counterpart which uses Slot A? I wish they'd just keep one slot type for these dang things :P

Yes and AMD is doing away with slot A as quickly as possible. And they are going to go with a socket A instead.

So, that'll be the end of the goldfinger cards, at least for the new cpu's from AMD.

AND they will be clock locked, so duron better be extremely clockable, or else people(overclockers I mean) will still run to Intel for it's sweet Celeron 2, which clocks further then I've seen a cpu go without extensive cooling.

Ahh well, time will tell, and maybe I'll get myself one of these durons.
But, right now I'm saving for a celeron2, for it has good capabilities, and a low 66Mhz FSB, which leaves a lot more room, then when you start at 100Mhz FSb, like the duron.

Just my 2 cents

Slotkets are coming for slotA.

No speed adjustments on socketA though - I think he was talking 'bout thunderbird slota chips.

Can anybody list some Duron motherboards? I'd like to check 'em out, but don't know if any exist yet!

Thanks,
AnakiMana

Epox has announced theirs a week ago, yet they pulled the announcement from www.epox.com (http://www.epox.com) - the main page says it'll be back tomorrow.
