I bought a used matsonic motherboard after problems with my old one. I am using a Intel 233MMX with it. I put the board in, installed all the jumpers, plugs, etc. I checked and double checked them. I cannot get the mobo to give even a POST beep. after checking this message board, I tried disconnecting everything including video card, ram, all HD and cd-rom cords with only the bios, CPU, and jumpers in place and still received nothing. The power light comes on. When connected, I hear the HD spin up for a short time, but the HD light does not come on. When the video card is in place, my monitor does not get any signal to turn on when trying to boot.

I had thought about the CMOS clear jumper before and that gives another question. It's your "normal" 3 pin jumper, but in the board manual it doesn't say anything like pin 1-2 normal, 2-3 clear. It just states Open setting normal(default), Close - clear CMOS, so is no jumper in place normal, and all pins jumped clear?
The CPU was checked also, and taken out 2 or 3 times to make sure, but unfortunately that didn't do it. Thanks.
I was having a boot lockup with the old mobo at the verifying DMI pool data. I couldn't even get it to boot off of a floppy.
I tried everything anyone could say about it anywhere I could find, internet and tech support. The stuff downloaded amounted to about 12 pages of info and 1 1/2 weeks of trying these tests. After that I just figured a new/used board was worth the headaches. Is it possible my CPU was damaged? I'm moved the CPU from the old one to the new one.

Hope you put some RAM in as well :-)

PC-Chips mainboards (aka Matsonic) often come with the "CMOS clear" jumper set to "clear" in order to save battery life while sitting on the shelf. Until you set it back to "normal", most of those boards won't do ANYTHING when powered on.

Double check first to make sure that you have the CPU inserted into the socket correctly, including the proper pin orientation. Your CPu should have one corner with a little notch on it to help you figure out which direction it goes in the socket.

DOH! Actually, check Peter's suggestion first, then mine <lol>.

You should check you power connector going into the motherboard. I had a problem once with a bad power supply connector. The orange 12v wire going in to the motherboard had become loose in the holder causing the computer not to boot to post and i had no video going to my monitor.
