[begin rant]

A new player to the "we'll pay you pennies to waste your time doing something useless" game has arrived, called RadioFreeCash. They pay members a whopping $0.20 per hour for every hour that they listen to the radio via an internet radio player application. Oh, and as a special bonus, if you refer 150-300 people to the site (who each listen to 10 hours of music), you get a, better sit down for this, FREE CD! And to make things even better, you're capped at 100 hours per month - $20 for *** 100 hours *** of your time. What's even stupider is that I'll bet that 95% of the people in the program just turn off their computer's speakers and don't bother to listen - I'm assuming the company derives revenue from radio ads, though it might also sell space on the application's window (I haven't installed the time-waster).

Ok, I personally feel that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of in my life, next to some of the other "get paid to sit on your ***** and waste your time and CPU processes" programs. I absolutely guarantee you that if you put your mind to it you can easily make more than $20/month in less time it takes to go fill out their signup form and install their software.

The company is capitalizing on the fact that the web is comprised of a lot of people to whom $20 is a good amount of dough (students, etc.), and who are willing to pimp themselves out for that rediculously low amount of money to entertain their BS.

I rather disagree with the entire concept and I know that the only thing that will come of it is a FLOOD of spam mails from people trying to get referrals just so they can get their stupid free CD (even though it would take an act of God for 150 referred people to listen to their radio app for 10 hours). I already received one spam (which is how I found out about it) from an idiot trying to email our 25,000+ newsletter subscribers - thankfully, that's impossible without my approval. What a waste of bandwidth and everyone's time.

Scott

But Scott, you could do the Alladvantage thing get 5% of $12.50 x 25k people. Think of the money! You could retire... Oh wait, you could retire right now. Silly me http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

May be, but do you ever hear of any "success" stories like that? I sure haven't.. All advantage is better in that regard - you get cash, and potentially lots of it, from referrals.. This new radio thing? A free CD.. Wow.

And Wyvrn: did you do the math on those numbers? 5% of $12.50 * 25,000 is $15,625. Retire? And live where? A used Toyota Camry? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

stocks my friend, stocks.

It takes some research and some risk management, but the potential is amazing and can easily become your sole source of income. It's addictive too http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif.

for those of you who just have money and no time, mutual funds. Give a pile of money to a bunch of pros who know how to invest and diversify. You can still make a lot espciallly in a growth portfolio (and lose of course) but the guys calling the shots are people who do it for a living. Also w/ mutual funds, very low commissions compared to brokers.

Does anyone actually use their computer in some way like this to make money? If there is a semi-decent way, I could always use a little extra cash, although twenty dollars a month isn't exactly what I'm looking for. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Here's one way: create a useful website that fills a niche, learn how to promote it and sell advertising on it and/or generate revenue through referral type programs such as Postmasterdirect.com and bottomdollar.com, and you'll be earning a nice salary. Course, that assumes quite a bit of knowledge in HTML, business, marketing, etc.

don't knock the Toy, if the roofs not rusty you can at least stay dry in a rain storm,
As for the get paid stuff, it don't even warrant my time to install it let alone the space taken up on the system which could be doing some thimg else better with out it.

Hey, thanks for the info!

Since i don't actually DO anything with my proxy server except split my DSL connection, I use it to run AllAdvantage and a horde of other similar programs. the revenues so far more than pya for my connection, and since it's a 400Mhz machine that doesn't to aNYTHING else and I'm hard pressed to actually max out 680K both ways, it doesn't bother me at all...<g>

Well since your dedicated machine is a proxy server, that is actually a pretty good strategy. Maybe it will go toward paying the cost of the machine, eventually.

The computer was already paid for, it's all scraps that i cobbled together. I just like it cause it's got no sound and the monitor hasn't even been turned on for about a week. but i've been making about $140/mo so far in total and that's almost double the cost of my DSL

A free cd? A free cd? (again) A free cd?

They must assume some people will be confused into thinking that is something extremely special.

STOCKS is right.. My dad is a stock broker, so MOST of my money is invested in stocks. This week they didn't do too well.

I don't use these types of services, and won't in the future!

Jeana: Oh boy http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif.. I knew that whatever car I chose for my humorous example, SOMEONE would be offended http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif (I like Camrys!). My point was just that the only housing one could afford to retire to with $15k is a car http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif.

seti is quite right - on average the UK market grows by 13.5% every year, far better than any government bond or bank account.

Read up on personal finance at somewhere like www.fool.com (http://www.fool.com) ( www.fool.co.uk (http://www.fool.co.uk) for UK-specific version).

I did and my eyes have been opened.

Also, do searches on the magic of "compound interest" and "Warren Buffett". Then laugh at day traders as you drive your Ferrari around in Hawaii when you are retired.

As for the wacko scheme, its the old pyramid thing, stay away.

Thats the main reason I personally do,nt subscribe to any of the **** make money while you surf programs.

I figure if I dont want to be bothered by them why should any one else who dont.

All andvantage is nothing but a big internet pyrymid scheme and sorry. Ill have no parts of it. If I wanted to make money on the web Id post my own site and sell what ever I wanted to sell.

Trust me boys and girls allthough it may seem like a sweet deal the annoyance and hassle levels are way above my tolerance.

How about yours????
