While attempting to flash the bios using Asus flash utility, I get a message reporting the checksum on the upgrade bios does not match. There is also a choice to continue or stop the flash. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm attempting to upgrade from bios 1004 to 1005.

Keep checking here. I was thinking of doing the same to mine. It may take me a few days but I'll try to give you some feedback.

Thanks for the reply Mark. Being a chicken, I did not continue with the flash after I read the checksum message. Let me know what happens with your efforts.

You're right to be cautious. My first flash attempt turned into disaster but 15 or 20 later I'm batting 1000. I successfully flashed mine but it told me "boot block different." There was something mentioned on the ASUS site about the boot block not being overwritten for safety so I took the chance. Everything's golden. However, if I'd gotten a message like you did about a mismatched checksum on the new bios then I definitely would NOT attempt the flash. It sounds like maybe your file is corrupt and maybe you should d/l it again. Also make sure you have the newest AFLASH file. You probably already have but I suggest a review of your manual and the bios related info on the ASUS site. I'm also a believer in not flashing unless you need to. Sometimes things work better and sometimes you lose small conveniences that you were used to. Losing the bios is no fun. Make sure you back up the old bios first for safety.

Thanks for the good info. I'll double check again my procedure and download another copy of the upgrade bios. After checking, if I get another checksum message, I may just call Asus and see if they can help.
