I'm building a new comp for a friend & thinking about using the Tyan 1598 board. I thought I read somwhere that it was kinda picky about the ram you use. I want to use his existing PC100 ram & don't want to have a compatibility problem.
Are most SS7 boards pretty good about ram compatibility? I was considering the Epox MVP3G2 board as well.

Can't really comment on the ram that you want to use, since I don't know what it is or the quality, etc... However, I bought the S1598 about christmas time and put Kingston Valueram PC100 and it works like a champ. Kingston did not rate the ram at 8ns (at least not at the time) but I set the speed for 8ns anyway in the bios and it works fine...no problems since January. You can't go wrong with Tyan for SS7 if you do not overclock - I really like Tyan...until the KA7 & KA7-100...
