GeForce incompatible with Athlon?

I've heard a lot of things, all of them different. Whats the deal with this?

My mates got both and they run no problem (although he does have the odd problem with Quake III, even with the latest patch).

Only incompatible on certain motherboards/ chipsets. Athlon's not at fault, and Intel has as many problems, they just have better marketing, and advertiser relations.

Gforce is only incompatible with earlier revisions of the amd northbridge chipset!!!

If you have such a chipset, and it is stepping 4 or earlier, then you're out of luck!!!

I have that chipset, only it is stepping 6, and recently I borrowed a gforce from a friend of mine, and it went away on agp 2x, since my mobo don't support 4x.

On certain AMD750 based motherboards, the GeForce can only operate at AGP1X stabally due to power issues.

I don't think there is any problem on the KX133 boards.
