Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know whether you can stop win 98 from showing all those device listings that comes on after the win 98 logon screen. This slows down the bootup process quite a bit. By the way I have a Pentium 2 333 Mhz computer with the intel 440 LX chip.Thanks.

Displaying device listings is not what is slowing Win down, it takes little effort from the processor to display the text on the screen. What's taking the time is loading the drivers it's showing you into memory. You need those, as far as the text goes not displaying it won't help at all. Although you can prevent the Win splash screen from appearing which will save some time. You could also reduce the time given to press F8 for the boot menu. Both of these options are easily controlled by using TweakUI, to avoid having to mess with the registry manually. Tweakui is available on your Win98 cdrom along with the resource kit sampler, check it out! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
