Mntsnow 05-20-2000, 11:48 PM Hmmmm...Thats the first I've heard of it...And I'm sure there is a ton of people that would be interested in that answer. But I'm afraid the Tech is mistaken or just mentioned the wrong OS http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Mntsnow InsaneMorphius 05-21-2000, 12:25 AM Yep Yep, I believe MtnSnow is correct. LOL Morphius weekenderkt 05-21-2000, 07:19 AM Theres another show in a few weeks I'll corner the tech and find out if he know's something we don't. I'll let you know!! Thanks weekenderkt [This message has been edited by weekenderkt (edited 05-21-2000).] RobRich 05-21-2000, 05:26 PM The kernel core architecture of Win9x limits it to one cpu. There is NO way onc could hack it to do otherwise. The core coding contains none of the proper handles for SMP processing. To support SMP, several thousand lines of code would have to be edited, and the code linked/compiled with a SMP optimized compiler. Robert Richmond bdunn 05-21-2000, 08:48 PM Its not that it doesn't work. There is just no benefit. It wasn't designed for 2 CPUs. I had to build a system quickly in an emergency at my last job and the only chassis I found in the closet was a dual pentium pro. All I did was re-format the HD and ran. It worked fine. AuraEdge 05-22-2000, 03:15 PM SMP wont work on it... u can stick 2 CPUs on there, and one will churn like normal and the other will sit idle. deep_sky 05-23-2000, 03:23 PM yep yep.....so you might as well either sell the second cpu or install win2k to utilize the second cpu.... fritzp 05-25-2000, 02:09 PM sounds like a salesmen at work!!! hd581 05-25-2000, 05:12 PM http://pages.prodigy.net/egboks/bsflag.gif SysOpt.com
