You could probably still pick up either the latest version of MS-DOS or PC-DOS from places like Office Depot, Babbages or from a local computer shop.

Unfortunatly they're still not offered as freeware. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

If you're looking for a free version that's MS-DOS compatible, check here (http://www.freedos.org).

Try as I might, I cannot believe DOS is so in demand that someone has to make a Free version of it. I'm sure a lot of people use win3.1 and stuff but it's hard to believe that people don't have a copy they have already purchased at one time in the past.

With the vast variety of hardware out there (especially old hardware) and just the variety of systems I'm sure it'll be used by people for some time longer. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The first computer I owned had Win95. It wasn't until later that I developed an interest in older computers and bought a few to fiddle around with. So it wasn't until then that I needed a copy of MS-DOS. I eventually bought a copy second-hand.

Here is a link for Caldera DOS. It is free.
Caldera DOS (http://www.calderathin.com/products/drdos/index.html)
It has been a while but I seem to remember it is compatible with all MS DOS stuff. I even loaded win 3.1 over it once. ÿþ

That was a dead link. try this one
DOS6.22 (http://www.kewlone.com/#Rep1)

You would probably have more luck posting this type question in "User to User" , DrVette

Locally, you can try used PC shops. Some used book stores also carry used software. I bought a used copy of Win95 at a place called "Half Price Books".

You can also try EBAY. I'm sure someone is trying to make a couple bucks selling old software.

I have to admit, I kinda miss DOS! It was cryptic, yes, but it was fun...or at least challenging. You actually had to think, not just point and click!
