I've acquired another "no-name" part. This time it's a motherboard with the part number "486SC-P". There is also the inscription "Rev http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif3" above it. Of course, no FCC ID# or partial mfg. name. It is made in Taiwan...isn't everything?
The board has a 168-pin Intel i486DX-33 processor, Symphony chipset, and AMD 486 BIOS. I need info on this board for jumper settings, maximum memory, etc.
This forum has helped in the past, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Plug it up to a power supply, add some memory, keyboard, and a video card connected to the monitor. Boot it up and record the bios string of numbers and letters on the first dos screen. This will identify your board. If it already has a 33, it should take a 66 DX-2 at least... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Thanks Darvocet. I found that info already, but was hoping for the actual mfg. name or distributor where I can get more info on the motherboard like jumper settings, RAM capacity, etc. I've emailed the individual mentioned in the article but no response yet. I appreciate your efforts.

Mr. Computer is right, except don't plug in the keyboard. That way, the system will stall long enough for you to read the bios string in the lower left hand corner of the screen. Record the string, and then go to motherboards.org, and use SPOT to find the manufacturer. Hopefully you will have better luck than I had with the last mb that I posted.
