Finally did it, ordered a Western Digital WD84AA 8.4 gig from Onvia for $135 (Canadian $). Free shipping, no PST...oh sure, I'll pay it after it arrives, send it straight to my provincial gov't offices http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
So do you think my chances of putting my fsb back up to 83 on my Tyan/166mmx are better now? It runs great there but had many errors I figure were due to running an ancient 500mb Maxtor, (or is it Quantum).... at the higher fsb. I do hope the newer drive will be better so I can get this thing back up to 225mhz where it belongs and loves to be. So any advice on my new WD HD? Should I use the software that comes with it to format or use f-disk?

**** fine price Shadow, is it coming out of States or Canadian site? As for their software I dont know but the software I got with my 10 gig Maxtor is excellent, it will image your old drive, format and partition really easily. I might pick one of those WD"s myself for that price.

From the Canadian site, was shipped from BC I believe. The last item I ordered came within 4 days via Purolator and no shipping charges. Here's the exact price as quoted by Onvia Canada, in Canadian dollars of course. Hmm, maybe I am paying PST.

Shadow that tax will be GST only.... you do not have to pay pst as it is coming from within canada but from out of your home province (as far as I know anyways)

Got my drive, installed very easy once I shut the udma66 off. The WD software copied my old drive and the new one booted no problem. I was impressed with the benchmark test on this drive. My old drive tested 1500 or so http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Let's see...$135 Canadian, what is that in U.S., about 17 bucks, right?
