Hi guys. I currently am using PC-66 RAM. Would I be able to use it on the mobo, if I have a P!!!500 MHz chip on the mobo which runs on 100MHz FSB? Would I have to set the FSB of the mobo to 100MHz if I'm running such a CPU?
Hi
A PIII 500MHz runs at 100MHz FSB x 5.
With the GA BX2000+, you have to select 100MHz FSB or your CPU will run @ 66MHx x 5 = 333MHz
Your PC66 RAM might run under 100MHz FSB, but this is overclocking. Your system might become unstable and might even reboot without notice !
I would not use 66MHz FSB. I would say it is a waste of "CPU power".
Why don't you buy PC100 SDRAM, they are not that expensive for the moment.

Or should I get PC-133 RAM? How much would 64MB RAM last from now? 1 year? 2 year? I'm talking about the requirements of software in the future.

Why would you want to buy PC-133 SDRAM anyways? It won't ahve any benefits since your FSB is still at 100MHz but you may buy it and place it when you upgrade your CPU though...
