Here's a thought for maybe the next UBB upgrade: They should put a check to see if a post matches another previous post within a 1 hour period (by same person only). The match can be a non-case sensitive 98% match, and should bring up a screen that says exactly what Socalgal says whenever someone does it.
Might save time. Oh well, just my random thought for the day.

Are you trying to make Socalgal redundant http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
yep it would help when posts are in diff places. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

If the UBB code is written in perl(and I think it is) I think I could pretty easily make that kind of a mod.

I think a better way is to actually allow cross-posting, but in a different way than now. I think each post should be "tagged" with a maximum of three "categories" and that the same physical file will show up in all these three categories. Let's face it, it really isn't all that obvious where a posting is supposed to go sometimes. Still, some people seem to have a serious problem with this kind of "symbolic links".

Hi hd581
Sorry it took so long for me to get back on this.
I related your suggestion to Scott, and he said he'll look into it. So... we'll see (personally, I like the idea, unless of course it *does* make me redundant! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif )
The problem with multiple postings is that sometimes by the time I get to them, there are replies in both (or more).
It hurts me to lock a thread to which others have responded with replies to help, even with a link to the other. But, it must be done, or the board would eventually become useless for troubleshooting.
