Problem with LPT port

when you added the network printer did it ask if you wanted to print from DOS. and did you capture the printer port. if so just uninstall the network printer and reinstall, but this time set the capture port up for LPT2. and change all DOS programs to print to LPT2. this will now leave you with LPT1 for your local printer.

Please help me with this problem.
I was trying to add a local printer to network workstation using a AMD K-5 166 MHZ and Windows 95. When I added the printer using the add printer icon in the printers folder, I could not find a local LPT port available; the only LPT port listed as one of the options was the one used by to connect to the network printer. So, even when I was able to chose a driver for the local printer, the print jobs were sent to the network printer because I was using network LPT port.
I checked on the device manager, and I saw that it did not have listed a local LPT port. I tried to add the port using add new hardware feature, and after installing it the device manager lists a "local printer port," but it is not an LPT port and it says that the device is not working properly because of some problems with drivers, or because the device does not exists in the machine. I compared the drives of this machine with the drives of other workstation and they have the same driver. In the other workstation user can decide whether to use a local or network printer.
Please any help will be greatly appreciated.

I can't uninstall the network port, it says that it cannot be uninstalled because it is being used or something.

qwert~The net port is probably part of your network script/setup. Leave it alone. Set your local port to Lpt2(2f8/i5)in CMOS/Setup and install your local printer to Lpt2. This won't mess with the network print port and you'll be able to add your local printer.
