Hey guys,
All this time I here everybody talking about 8ns and 10ns.
But I have 2 sticks of micron 64Mb 100Mhz sdram's.
How can I see what the speed is???
And are there micron sticks like that, at 8ns??
Please help me on this one, I really need to know.
Thanks in advance

100 MHz = 10 ns
133 MHz = 7.5 ns

If you look at the Ram chips you should see the speed on each of the chips, it may be marked
10 or 10ns
or any relavent speed some times it helps if you use a mag glass to inspect the chips.
as for the other question the answer is yes.

Thanks WW,
I just found out, at least I think, that my sticks are both 8ns.
Ahh man, I must know how far these babies can go, for soon I will be havin' my freespeed device, and I wanna be able to up the FSB.
Ya wouldn't happen to know what FSB's the msi6167 can take, would ya???
Since this board has zero jumpers, well 1, but that is for clear cmos, and that doesn't help me very much, now does it??!!
Thanks for the help BTW, i appreciate it.

Sounds like you need to download the motherboard manual at http://www.msi.com.tw/support/manuals/manual.htm
There is a bit more to overclocking considerations than the FSB setting, such as impact on your other peripherals.
Micron memory modules can be identified by the lengthy markings on the chips. -8e is held in high regard by most but be aware those modules can be installed on PCBs from 3rd parties which is not always of the same quality as Crucial. You should be able to find the exact specs for your memory at Micron/Crucial.

Hi guys,
the reading on the chips is as follows:
9904 1-1 48lc8m8a2
tg -8e b
does this mean I have 8Ns chips???
And yes, I do know there is more to o/c'ing then just the FSB settings.
Thanks again for the link

Hey underclocked,
thanks for the link, but the manual says absolutely zero about the FSB.
Does this mean it only supports 100Mhz???
Aargghhh, if that would be true, I would shoot myself, or better yet, buy another mobo.
Thanks again.
Pim.

Hey guys,
I just ran sandra 2000 over my system and guess what??!!!
It rules, I'm a happy camper.
According to sandra2000, my FSB speed range varies between 50 and 133.
Whooohoooo, I am truelly happy.
But not perfectly happy, since the following fact.
The whole board is AUTO-DETECT. I hate that garbage, not one jumper is there to be jumpered, except for clear cmos.
Ahh well, at least I know that it can take 133FSB.
Anybody know a good FSB program, which will work on my msi6167?????
Thanks guys

Don't bother buying a new motherboard just for a few FSB speeds.
If you don't have a goldfinger card, then adjusting the FSB is the only way to overclock, but if you do, or are getting one, then don't worry about the FSB settings, as adjusting them usualy results in unstability on AMD 751 based motherboards.

Also, the max bus speed on all AMD751 boards without getting very unstable is about the 110MHz mark.
