I have connected a serial/PS/2 mouse to PS/2 port, but while starting windows95 ,but it is not getting recognized by windows, I need the com1/com2 for my Palm Pilot/Modem, So I can't connect to serial port,
I did try to enable CMOS setting for IRQ12(PnP) but with no luck !
Do I have to do any kind of jumper manipulation if so can somebody give me detailed advice on how ?

I had sorta had the same problem as you did, and I fixed it by making sure that the IRQ was set to the factory default. What happeneed to me is I installed a new modem which decided to take up IRQ 9 (which was my mouse port's IRQ). Usually the IRQ's on mouse and keyboard ports are hardwired, not software, so if you change the IRQ back to what it was when you first obtained the mobo, it should be fixed. If that doesn't work, look in the CMOS settings for a setting that goes something like "Manual IRQ settings, or WIN95 Plug and play" Select Plug and Play, and windows will automatically assign devices to free software ICQs, and not try to override the hardwired ones.
Nope, I did it to factory default, Still with no luck, I can run my mouse from serial port not from PS/2 port

sometimes in the bios depending on your board you might have to enable ps/2 mouse also i have seen some pc's shipped with the ps/2 connector not connected to the board but again that depends on your mobo type, just somthings you might wanna check. good luck

hi,
does it necessarly have to be a ps2 port? if its just the pin change? maybe that would work I know my mouse is serial but tiny little 6 pin ps2 like. What is the difference between them and why would this work and not her way if she changed them?
oh in cmos if you disable your com 2 [modem] on some motherboards with conflict it will then detect modem. on com2 but havent tried it with the com1 mouse port.
other question? the new mice intelligent explorer has usb and the ps2 adapter but wont show up connected to pc on serial port changed to ps2 adapter....[like above]
is it because 2 adapters in front of usb? or a must for the port......i'm getting myself very confuse lol
good luck would like to see how it turns out.
thanks,
sb
No, I need com1 for my Palm & Com2 for modem
for that to work, I need my ps2 mouse to work on ps2 port !
