Hi everyone. I wanted to know what you guys would prefer. I have a 600e p3. I am thinking about getting the new abit Apollo133A mobo. But I have heard the BE6II would be a better choice. Isnt the 440chipset going to be outdated soon? I have heard the apollo chipset is very good. I want a system that will be good for the long run. What do you guys think? Are there any mobo recomendations you guys think would be similar or better than my choices? I want a good overclocking mobo. Thanks

440BX is a good chipset, make no mistake about that. It's problem is that it isn't designed for FSB speeds over 100 Mhz. Therefore, it cannot run the newest chips designed for a 133 Mhz FSB (some people do anyway, but your AGP and PCI are way out of spec). As for the Apollo 133A, it is also a good board, but none of the chipsets that are designed for a 133 Mhz FSB (e.g. 810, 820, 840) are really mind-blowing. But the Apollo 133A is definitely the best pick of them. If you're looking for a board that will be good for the long run, go with the Apollo, it'll take you a long way.

~~Edit: Oops! Sorry, didn't see that A at the end of 133!

Toms Hardware Guide just posted a review of 21 MB's using VIA's 133 or 133a chipset. Check it out.

Read the tomshardware review, was surprise that they left the ABIT VT6X4 off the list. Does anyone know a reason, or problems with this MB?

Well the bx440 are still good boards today! Depending on what your going to run your 600e at, you may need a 1/2 divider for agp, bx is only 2/3, if your around 140~150fsb that would be pushing it eh. I've heard some good stuff about asus p3v4x, I might go that route myself (I got Be6 now). Soyo has got a good board out, more fsb speeds too, Check em out

The 6VBA is NOT a 133a board!
the 133 boards had real real bad memory proformance, and no AGP4x
Make sure u get a 133a board, like the Abit VT6X4, Soyo SY-7VCA, Asus's 133a offering (forgot the name), or the MSI 6309.

I havent seen toms review yet...
one site had a three way shootout between a VT6X4, a 7VCA and the Asus 133a board...Dont remember the site tho.....if anyone knows, plz post it!

Aura E, is it the apollo 133 had those memory problems, and the133a are improved?
Is there any other benefits besides agp divider, In other words, would it be a good propersition to go from Be6 to Asus P3V4X?
Hey, sorry to muzzle in on someone elses post!
