I recently got a FIC KA-6130 motherboard. I popped it into a new system that I am building for the office and installed Windows 2000 Pro retail full version onto a new Maxtor 8.4 GB drive. During the install, everything seemed to be okay. When it booted into Win2k for the first time, the bios date reported January 1st, 1601 at 12 midnight! I am a little stumped! Anyone got any ideas? To top it off, the bios reports the correct time/date in the CMOS, and if I correct it in windows, then try to reboot, the system takes forever to boot...i waited 15 minutes before hitting the reset button. After going back into windows after the reset, it it goes back to the same problem. Any ideas? Think I am going to reformat and try again...maybe some file go installed incorrectly.

Have you checked to confirm you have a Win2K approved bios? Several manufacturers have released new bios versions to make their mobo's truly compatiable with Win2k.

Thus I would suggest making sure your running the most current version of bios for your board.

I went to FIC's webpage and it has te most recent version. Or, are you speaking of Award in general? I have three or four other machines using Award Bios's with no problems..so I thought this was rather wierd. This is the first board I have purchased that is using the VIA chipset instead of the regular BX chipset....
