I just downloaded Beos 5.0 and at the present I have nothing bad to say about it. Its small fast effiecient and sorry to say to all the linux fans out there alot easier to config.

This coming from the experience of trying out exactly 4 versions of linnux personally. I simply installed BEos 5.0 and bam ready to roll as soon as i rebooted the system.

The only configuring I had to do was network and that was a snap. The only flaw it currently has that I can see at the present is allthough it dectects my 3Com 3C900x series ethernet adapter but drivers are currently not availiable http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif. Good thing I left the 56k hooked up.

Has anyone else tried it yet ?? If you have tell me what you think ..

P.S. sorry I have,nt posted for awhile I,ve been out of town for the past 6 weeks and been wrapped up in work. It,s good to be home for a change http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif...

I have been a BeOS user since version 4.0 and currently use 4.5 - it is very nice if you have compatible hardware, and my Athlon boots from power-on to usable GUI in under 10 seconds.

I have ordered the 5.0 upgrade.

I have used Be 4.5 and have downloaded 5.0, but haven't had much chance to play with it. I agree that Be is much more user friendly as far as the OS itself goes, if you have supported hardware. There aren't nearly as many quality apps available at this time however. Many that are available feel unprofessional, with poor documentation.

I hope this bold move by Be of giving away their product will generate enough interest to spur development of first rate apps.

"Rofl" to C-monster no I have not but I have a decent scientific alanta calc at my desk. Just in case of these emergencies. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

"Thanks for the concerne C" http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif. Allthough I have yet to discover the Calc on BEos http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. If thats the only thing that can be found wrong with it then they,ve allready blown Windows out of the water.

But I dont want to speak to soon as im still experimenting with it ????...
