My recently built system (about 2 weeks old) was doing fine, I worked all the bugs out, so I thought until today. Now when I go into the Chipset Features Setup in my Award BIOS, the system locks up. I cannot move around in the menu, and sometimes it doesn't even highlight the first option. I try using the arrow keys, pgup, pgdown, esc....nothing. I then have to manually reset the system using the button on the case itself. I cannot change anything under that menu. Every other option in the BIOS(Standard CMOS setup, Bios Features Setup, etc.) I can access. I already have flashed the BIOS, to get rid of a reset problem. Today I changed 3 things on my computer: (1) the monitor. (2) Added 64 MB more of SDRAM (3) Changed the case fan from one that plugged into the PSU, to one that plugs directly into the MB. Here is what I have:
AMD K62 500 MHz
128 K SDRAM
Epox EP-MVP3G5 MB w/ Award BIOS, VIA Chipset
Matrox 10 GB Ultra ATA 66
ATI Expert 20000 Video
Soundblaster Live! MP3+

***If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it. I really love this message board. Any question I have had has been answered so far. Correctly, too, I must add!!****

First thing I would do is remove the new ram & see if the problem goes away. Of the changes you mentioned, that's the one most likely to affect the bios.

Did you try "load defaults" ?

Thanks for the advice, Ed_S. I got it fixed. It ened up being the new case fan I put in. I changed the fan because being a typical man, I just had to tweek with the system. I wanted one that I could plug directly into the Mb, because in the BIOS, I could check out the RPM's. Well, for some reason it locked my system up, so knowing the RPM's of the case fan really isn't that important to me. LOL I will check out Epox website and see if they have a fix for this, but if not, I can live without it. Thanks again for your advice.
