Hello!!
First my system:
Mainboard: Abit BP6
Dual celeron 500 cpu
Sb live
Voodoo 3500
128 ram
IBM 27gb udma 66 diskdrive

Ok here's my problem:
Yesterday I flashed my bios with the newest BP6 bios. After that only w2k works on my pc. W98 won't start up. I have the new HPT 366 driver for W98.(V.1.22).
I can start my W98 in Safe modus, or if I go step by step in and answers no for loading this line in Autoexec.bat:
e:\PROGRA~1\SBLIVE\DOSDRV\SBEINIT.COM

This is as you can see the dosdrivers for my SB live card.
If I let W98 load this prog. it boots on it's own right away.
What can this problem be?

Any suggestions?

Thanx Smaugen!!!

Ya know I get problems like this every once in a while and what really seems to work is re-installing the OS that your having problems with. Of course, this is a very general fix for a general problem, at least the symptoms you describe are general. Consider if you really need the DOS drivers... Although I was under the impression that the SB Live doesn't work in DOS... I could be wrong. Maybe if you go into safe mode and remove the drivers for the SB Live you might be able to boot up and let windows re-install the drivers. Maybe if you include a bit more info like if everything worked fine before you installed the drivers for the SB or if you installed something else before the problem. Hope I could give some insight. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Or maybe if you try to reset your ESCD in your BIOS that might help..

A question I'd have is why are you loading a DOS driver on a win98 / NT system? Dos the SBLive require it to function on 98? - I'd be looking to Creative to answer that question - Chances are they've already got something put together on their web site, or they'll try to sell you the next model up....

Previous comments are correct, you dont need the dos drivers for WIN98, If you can get WIN98 loaded (not in Safe mode) then uninstall the SB drivers then reinstall, but dont install the dos drivers, this may work.

or

Just comment out the entry in the autoexec.bat file.
