I am thinking of buying an M599LMR motherboard and setting it up so I can run Linux (AND Win98 SE). Is this board OK for Linux?
Will the integrated network chip work? how about the sound chip?

Thanks!

Everything's there.

VGA is a SiS 530, X drivers have been adapted with help from SiS themselves.

IDE is the SiS 5513 functional unit, support for this one has been there for quite a while.

Sound is a C-Media 8738, using the cmpci driver.

LAN is an SiS 900, again with drivers that had manufacturer assistance.

Even for the soundchip driven modem there is a Linux driver pctel.o available.

So just go ahead, this board makes a good cheap Linux box.
