I've been trying this evening to flash the bios on my Tyan board to get the 1.00 rather than the .81 it shipped with 2 weeks ago. I can't get it to work.. I downloaded their current utility and .bin file from the Tyan site and followed the site and mobo manual instructions to a T. The problem I get is either "out of memory" or "invalid command.com".I am using their flashv73.exe app in the proper CPU mode. Any ideas? I'd like to get this done so I can change the CPU IOQ setting to 4 and fix the AGP 4x problem. Also how do I tell which revision of mobo I have besides the BIOS version?

For those considering the 1854 mobo go to the Tyan website and check their link to a new review of the board, very favorable once the CPU IOQ is set to 4. (Not default)

Any ideas on getting the bios upgrade done?
Thanks.

I'll kick this one back to the top. Anybody have any ideas? I still can't get it to work.

Thanks

I don't know what command line syntax you are using, but I just flashed mine to 1.06 and used the commands as outlined on the Tyan web page and had no problems. Make sure your boot floppy has the correct command.com file on it--from windows, format the floppy with the system files and then remove all but the command.com. Hope this helps--you sure won't get any from Tyan!!

I had the same problem when following the Tyan instructions....it don't work!
Get yourself a DOS setup floppy, a bootdisc.
I luckily found one in my pile of ****, a set of floppies to install DOS 6.2. Disc one will boot the computer into DOS, and then of course asks if you want to install it...say no. You are now in pure DOS and your Tyan bios upgrade proggy will work!

I read your post as a new owner of a TYAN S1854 (Trinity 400) motherboard.

I just sucessfully flashed by board to 1.06, just as "NATGAS" had. I didn't have any problems.

This is what I did:

Made a bootable floppy in WIN 98.
(format with system files)
Copied the flashv73 file to the floppy.
Copied the .BIN file to the floppy.
Rebooted with the floppy in drive A:
(now in DOS)

typed the command (just like the website described)

flashv73 1854v106.bin /py/sn/cc

the program ran, updated the BIOS, then returned to an A: prompt.

I removed the disk from drive A: and rebooted.

That was all.

I hope this helped.
