I am in the process of modifying a BP6 to work with a Coppermine pair. I need all the data I can find on SMP mod's for FC-PGA cpu's. In specific, wiring/routing differences of pins between the Celeron and the Coppermine FC-PGA.

I believe I have to re-route the trace from pin AN-15 over to pin X-2 ( BR1 ). I also remember a mod to pull pin N-33 high with a resistor to VCC.

If any of you have any leads to articles or post covering this subject...I need your help!

Please, If I may be allowed to ask of you, post replies on here ( this thread ) and also to my own forum HERE (http://www.mrcs.net/board/mrcubb/ubb/Forum16/HTML/000007.html).

Thanks all!

ya know BBA, It might be more FUN to modify a BP6, but one of those makers... Powerleap, has a adaptor for that, PPGA to FC-PGA, I forget if its released yet though... sorry

I've been checking on that...Planned release is 3/15. It probably won't make it.

Problem is it does it's own voltage regulation...means bios tweaking won't work.

If it does come out on the 15th, I'll get one just to see.

Oh...seems the one issue of voltage is moot..as it uses the voltage your bios gives it, but a bigger issue exist!

It is possible to insert the CPU oriented incorrectly. Once the CPU is inserted, you will almost positively break pins if you try to remove it.

In other words, once you do it, there's no going back to a regular FC-PGA socket.

Also, you have to use the heatsink/fan they provide with the adapter...so much for peltier and alpha.
