A friend is running PII 266MHz chip but does not know what his current ATX mobo is. He wants to upgrade to a PIII 500MHz. Can you guys tell me if he needs a whole new mobo (slot1 or socket7, ppga, etc.) or do you need more information?
Thanks.
Yes actually, it's a Dell... wish I could tell you the model, but you have the CPU specs at least.. maybe I'll get more info later..

Heres whats needed...find out if its a 400LX chipset or a 440BX chipset. If its LX, you need a new board. If its BX, you dont.
More info needed. There should be an FCC code number that can be crossed at an FCC (gov) site if no other info is available.
Is this a factory-built computer, like Dell, Compaq, etc?
