Anyone ever take a PC repair course through ICS (INTERNATIONAL CORRESPONDANCE SCHOOL).
They have pcrepair for $1400 can.funds. Im just wondering if this course is good. Apparently it's a good foundation for A+ Certification.
Thanks

Woah! The price is way high. Get your A+ for the same amount or less. What is 1400 in US funds, around $910 right?

I got the information package from them and if you carefully read their program offerings you will find you probably know most of it and the rest can be weened from a book, or practice test and even these forums. lol

This course seems to be for beginners. Most of the stuff is rather routine and they cannot really cover much in depth material in the time they alot. I would get a book for $30-$40 and save the rest. There are some good troubleshooting books at Barnes and Noble but be careful which you buy b/c some are really ****.

At the Borders bookstore here in town I got an A+ book published by Que (I've never been displeased with a Que book - given the choice I'll take their comp-related books over anything else)....we'll find out if it prepared me in a month or two when I actually take the tests...
<edit>
Also, Scott Mueller's Upgrading & Repairing PCs 11th Edition (also published by Que) has a CD in it with a load of A+ prep guides and something like 1000 practice questions...

If you want cheap, try IDG's A= for Dummies they have a CD Rom with the book that not so long ago retailed at over $300 USD ( this being a A+ course ) a lot cheaper, combine this with Upgrading and repair manual mentioned above which by the way you can find online at http://www.informit.com/product/0789712954/ if you really want to cheap skate.

Just note the above thats online line is the 97 edition. not the most current as they are now on ver. 11 but ver. 8 will give you quite a bit of info you need.

I just ordered Scott Mueller’s Ultimate A+ Certification from Chapter's $119 Cdn funds. It sounds like a good set of 3 books and I will let you all know what they are like when I receive them. They should be in 4 to 5 days.
